Church Facility Technician

Southminster Presbyterian Church is seeking a Church Facility Technician to provide custodial services to our building and furniture set up for church activities and events. This part-time position is hired for 12 – 17 hours a week, but the schedule of these hours may be agreed upon by the employee and supervisor. For a more detailed job description: Church Facility Technician Job Description

Responsibilities include:

  • Clean church building twice a week (typically Mondays and Fridays), including but not limited to: cleaning of restrooms and kitchen areas, classrooms, and worship spaces, cleaning floors (vacuum, sweep, mop), sanitizing glass, doors, and water fountains, pick up trash and debris in parking lot and lawn, and taking out trash and recycling.
  • Clean bathrooms three times/week (Sample schedule: Monday, Friday, and once mid-week)
  • Set up rooms for church activities and other events including putting up or taking down chairs and tables, and moving sanctuary furniture (piano, table, pulpit, lectern)

Qualifications:

  • Physically and medically capable to move and lift tables and chairs as well as cleaning equipment (50lbs or less)
  • Able to receive and comply with written and verbal instructions

  • Able to work independently


Nursery Worker

We are looking for reliable childcare providers to care for our youngest members. Nursery workers will work on Sunday mornings (9:00am – 12:00pm) to care for children ages birth – 3 years old during our Sunday morning programs. There are occasional evening opportunities as well. On a typical Sunday, we expect 1 – 3 children in the nursery and always have two nursery workers present.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide safety and supervision of children in the nursery.
  • Play with and engage with the children while under your care.
  • Be a friendly and warm presence for children and their families.
  • Communicate with families if any issues arise while their child is in the nursery.

Qualifications:

  • Some childcare experience preferred
  • Reliable and on-time
  • Warm and friendly demeanor toward children, their parents, and other members of the church
  • Must pass background check
  • Applicants must be 18 years or older
